Mark Tang

Speech: 10 tips for high tech entrepreneur

Mark Tang is a managing director and partner of Good Health Capital New York, a healthcare private equity firm with offices in Asia and New York. Mark has over two decades of experience in the field of biotechnology as an entrepreneur, educator, advisor and investor. He was formerly a research associate at Rockefeller University, an investment banker, a biotech analyst,and a biotech director at Rutgers Business School.  Mark attended University of California, NYU and Harvard University.

Peter Thurlow

IP lawyer at Polsinelli

Peter Thurlow is a highly regarded IP lawyer, currently a shareholder and practice chair at Polsinelli, an Am Law 100 firm with over 800 attorneys and 20 offices. He focuses on presenting strategies to help protect inventors, small businesses, and multinational corporations’intellectual property rights. Peter’s practice involves the full spectrum of patent law. Peter is the current President of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA), the primary intellectual property law association in New York with more than 1,250 members. Before starting his career path in legal industry, he studied mechanical engineering and worked as an engineer, which was a special experience for him.

 

Based on Peter’s extensive experience working on matters at the USPTO, he received a second three-year term starting in January 2016 from the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on the USPTO’s Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC). The PPAC includes nine experience dpatent practitioners that advise the Undersecretary of Commerce and Director of the USPTO on USPTO patent policies and procedures. Each of the nine PPACmembers chair one PPAC subcommittee. Based on Pete’s significant experience on USPTO post-grant matters, Pete chairs the USPTO’s PTAB subcommittee. The PPAC provides an annual report to the White House, U.S. Commerce Department, House and Senate Judiciary Committees, and the USPTO.

Ruth Jin

Ruth Jin has extensive experience in corporate and securities laws. Ruth has knowledge in Chinese law, Korean law and Japanese law, and is fluent in these three languages. Ruth’s clients range from entrepreneurs and emerging companies to Fortune 500 companies. She advises businesses through all stages of growth from startups and capital financing right through to initial public offering and counsels on the ongoing securities law compliance and vperiodic reporting obligations.

Prior to founding The Jin Law Group, she worked at the corporate law departments of such major law firms as Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and McKee Nelson LLP. Ruth has many publications in law journals and often speaks at business roundtables. Ruth was a panelist in the 2005 American Bar Association Section of International Law Spring Meeting on international trade related issues, and was a fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law in Washington, D.C. from 2003 to 2004. Ruth is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, D.C.
